Window tinting for homes & buildings · 3M architectural window film

It’s called window film now. It still fixes the heat.

If you searched for window tinting, you are in the right place. Modern 3M architectural films reject most of the sun’s heat, cut glare, block 99% of UV and add privacy or security — and the ones we recommend for most homes and offices look like clear glass. Epic is the nation’s largest 3M window film dealer, with its own certified crews, nationwide.

What kind of tinting?

Four jobs people mean when they say “window tint.”

Choosing sun-control film for a building — all eight 3M families, by elevation — has its own page: solar control window film.

Home window tinting

Hot rooms, glare on the TV, fading floors and furniture, privacy on street-facing glass — without dark windows. 3M Prestige and Ceramic are virtually clear; Night Vision for glare; Fasara frost for privacy.

Commercial window tinting

Office buildings, retail, hospitality, healthcare and warehouses: cooling load, tenant comfort, glare on screens, a uniform exterior and a 2–6 year payback documented by a facility energy analysis.

Security window tinting

What people call “security tint” is thick safety and security film anchored to the frame — for break-ins, forced entry at schools and public buildings, blast and windstorm. Clear, or combined with sun control in one film.

Privacy & decorative tinting

Frosted, gradient and patterned 3M Fasara films for conference rooms, glass offices, bathrooms, sidelites and storefronts — privacy that keeps the daylight.

Rendering is computed from the film’s published optical values applied only to the glass in each photo (clear-glass baseline: 88% VLT, 8% exterior reflectance). This is a simulation; actual appearance varies with glass type, sun angle and shade — we put real samples on your real glass before you decide.

FAQ

Window tinting questions

Is window tinting the same as window film?
Yes. Window tint, window tinting, home window tint and commercial window tinting are the everyday names for architectural window film: a thin, optically clear polyester film bonded to the room side of existing glass. Epic installs 3M architectural films on homes, offices, schools and government buildings. We do not tint cars.
How much does window tinting cost for a house or a building?
It is quoted per window after a free assessment, because the same square footage can cost very differently depending on the film, the glass, the height and how many small lites there are. The written price is fixed and most homes are installed in a day. Public entities buy at awarded cooperative-contract pricing.
Does window tint make the house dark?
Not the films Epic recommends for most homes. 3M Prestige rejects up to 97% of infrared heat at shades that look like clear glass; 3M Ceramic does the same with a nano-ceramic layer and no metal. Darker and reflective shades exist for people who want them, but heat rejection no longer requires them.
Does window tinting block heat and UV?
Yes. Every 3M architectural film blocks 99%+ of UV — the main cause of fading — and 3M window films carry the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation. The sun-control films reject most of the solar heat at the glass, where interior blinds and shades cannot. Numbers for each film are on the Epic spec cards.
How long does window tint last and is it warranted?
3M residential films carry a limited lifetime warranty when installed by an authorized dealer; commercial films are typically warranted 10–15 years. The warranty covers bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination and discoloration, and Epic registers every job with 3M.
Do you offer window tinting near me?
Epic is headquartered in McKinney, Texas and serves all of Dallas–Fort Worth — Plano, Frisco, Allen, Fort Worth and the surrounding counties; the Colorado office in Aurora serves Denver, Colorado Springs and the Front Range; in-house crews travel nationwide for institutional and multi-site projects.
Can I see what a tint will look like before I buy?
Yes, twice. The visualizer on this page re-renders real rooms and buildings with each 3M film from its published optical values, and the assessment puts physical samples on your own glass before you decide.
