3M™ S140 Safety & Security Film · installed by Epic
The right film for storefronts, not the most film.
14-mil security film for smash-and-grab, vandalism and accidental breakage — sized to the risk and priced to the budget.
Smash-and-grab attempts and broken-glass hazards are everyday risks for storefronts, lobbies, and street-level glass. S140’s 14-mil, 3-ply construction holds shattered glass in place, making it more difficult for an intruder to break in.

What it does, and what makes it a system.
S140 is a 14-mil, three-ply polyester security film for everyday commercial risk: storefront glass, lobbies, ground-floor offices and anywhere accidental breakage or smash-and-grab is the concern. It holds the broken pane together so the glass stays in the opening and off the floor. Where the risk is forced entry at an occupied entry or vestibule, Epic will tell you plainly that 3M S2400 attached to the frame is the right specification.
Why buildings choose 3M S140
- Seismic protection: Retains broken glass within the frame, reducing injury risk.
- Smash-and-grab deterrence: Slows opportunistic break-ins by holding glass intact.
- Safety glazing: Meets ANSI Z97.1 and EN 12600 to help facilities meet code.
- UV protection: Blocks 99% of UV rays.
- Scratch-resistant hardcoat: Scratch resistance and durability.
How Epic installs this film
Installed by Epic-employed Certified Installation Specialists, precision-cut to each lite. For storefronts, Epic recommends anchoring the perimeter with a structural silicone attachment so the broken glass stays in the frame rather than folding inward.

3M Scotchshield safety and security films. The security films (3M S2400, Ultra S800, S140 and the Ultra solar-safety films) are installed with the Epic Method attachment; the S40, S70 and S80 safety films are bonded to the glass for breakage and human-impact protection. Clear films leave the glass looking unchanged; the Ultra films add Prestige or Night Vision sun control to the same layer. Eleven films.

Rendering is computed from the film’s published optical values applied only to the glass in each photo (clear-glass baseline: 88% VLT, 8% exterior reflectance). This is a simulation; actual appearance varies with glass type, sun angle and shade — we put real samples on your real glass before you decide.
